Most people use firewood to keep warm while camping or to make smores. LA-based designer Paul Foeckler of Split Grain uses it for something else… He creates beautiful wooden lamps.
“The project began with me taking notice of an ordinary piece of firewood and thinking it too beautiful to burn”, Foeckler wrote. He then started experimenting with different pieces of firewood that he found in forests and soon realized that cutting the wood into precise slices brings out the real beauty of it. Now Foeckler sells his beautiful lamps on Etsy, hoping they “allow people to reflect upon nature in both intimate and public contemporary spaces.”
