pearl necklaces symbolically reflect the world as your oyster (above) ‘globe’ all images courtesy of TO+WN DESIGN new york-based creative studio TO+WN DESIGN have designed a series of jewelry based around a single pearl called ‘the world is your oyster’. the collection includes three necklaces cast in brass, hand polished and assembled. each explores clever interpretations of the pearl as a symbolic reflection of the earth: the first, ‘globe’, metaphorically expresses the jewel as a planet, surrounding it in a gold classroom-style world map; ‘atlas’ plays with the greek mythical man, who held up the celestial sphere on his back; ‘hands’ holds the pearl its open grasp. a limited run of each piece from the collection is currently available on etsy, where 5% of the purchase will be donated to UNICEF.
