japanese artist toshihiko shibuya has placed ‘water pallet’ floating on a square pool of water at the sapporo sculpture garden in japan. installed as part of the land-art work ‘way to the hidden garden’ by dani karavan, the white circles glide on the surface of the basin, reflecting a colorful hue. painted with pinks, blues and greens on their base, the overlapping objects cast a bright chroma as they layer a top each other. the project references the number 7 throughout: seven articles sit in the 70-meter-long waterway, under a structural gate that spans 7 meters in height and the diameter of each disk 70cm. the latest in the series of environmental works is traditional to shibuya’s style, uniting color, object and movement.
