Verizon FiOS is increasing its upload speeds to match its download speeds.
The update, which the telecom company announced Monday on its website, is free for current customers. However, users may not notice a difference immediately, as the faster speeds will be rolled out to Verizon's more than 6 million home Internet users over the next few months.
Customers who have registered, or plan to register soon, with Verizon's rewards program My Rewards+, will be the first to upgrade, with regular residential customers to follow. Small businesses that use the Internet service will upgrade by the beginning of this fall, Verizon spokesperson Bob Elek told Mashable.
