Global Heritage Fund aims to preserve the region’s historic architecture, working with local communities to reproduce traditional Romanian tiles and bricks. While Transylvania is beautifully preserved, many homeowners have struggled to maintain the historic character of their homes. To preserve this unique landscape, GHF and partners are collaborating to build new kilns. From 2015, travellers will be able to partake in the tile making craft in the village of Apos. The project has also won the support of HRH Prince of Wales who has set up traditional homestays for visitors in Zalanpatak and Viscri.
