Ticketmaster Buys TED Ticketer Eventjoy as Mobile Business Ramps Up — mashable.com

Ticketmaster is buying Eventjoy, a mobile service used by The Home Depot, TED conferences and others to handle ticketing and communicate with attendees. Live Nation Entertainment, Ticketmaster's parent company, announced the acquisition Thursday, after its board of directors meeting in New York. Financial terms weren't disclosed. Eventjoy will give Ticketmaster a new platform and tools for ticketing on mobile devices, an area of rapid growth. More people are using smartphones and tablets to buy tickets than at the same point after ticketing first became available over the Internet.
