Please Don't Tell is a great place to entertain guests who are unfamiliar with the village. While the secret is out among the locals, newcomers may be surprised to find a cocktail bar hidden inside of a phone booth inside of a hotdog joint in the East Village of New York. In order to enter Please Don't Tell, visitors must enter Crif Dog hotdogs, then the 1940s phone booth in the corner, and then talk to the hostess on the other end of the phone. Parties may be asked to wait a few minutes for space to clear up inside, allowing for the opportunity to try an infamous New Jersey style hotdog from Crif Dog. Once inside Please Don't Tell, the experience is fun and whimsy, it is dimly lit, and decorated with a few avant-garde taxidermy pieces dressed with sunglasses and statement jewels. Try the Benton's Old Fashioned, a bacon-infused four roses bourbon with maple syrup and angostura bitters. Alternatively, absinthe is a speciality on this cocktail menu. Making a reservation as early as possible is recommended.
