While Victorian government has ruled out a shift towards pill testing at music festivals the New South Wales premier, Gladys Berejiklian, has softened her stance. Pill testing is likely to become a NSW election issue, with the state’s opposition opening the door to supporting the measure. Late last year Berejiklian, ruled out introducing pill testing after a 19-year-old’s death at dance party at Sydney Olympic Park.
