A Song of Dan and Josh: Sansa I (A Clash of Kings) — winteriscoming.net

A Song of Dan and Josh: Sansa I (A Clash of Kings) It’s time for another episode of A Song of Dan and Josh, the show where myself — a guy who’s read the Song of Ice and Fire books multiple times — and FanSided’s own Josh Hill — a guy who’s only ever seen HBO’s adaptation — talk through each and every chapter of George R.R. Martin fantasy epic, breaking apart each to find out what makes them so special.Today, we’re discussing the first Sansa chapter from A Clash of Kings. Ned is dead, and Sansa is a prisoner of the Lannisters in all but name. How does she handle her horrible new normal? Let’s find out:Some of the topics we hit include:Joffrey pulls a lot of focus in this chapter. In many ways, this is where he really emerges as the brat king we all know and loathe.“What was it that Septa Mordane used to tell to tell her? A lady’s armor is courtesy, that was it. She donned her armor.” Sansa wears a lot of battle gear in this chapter. It’s fascinating to see her get used to her weapons, where she uses them well, and where she still has a ways to go.Sansa is mistrustful of Tyrion in this chapter. Given what his family has done to hers, that’s understandable, but does the book do a good job of selling their difference in perspective? Does the show?As one of the few people able to tell off Joffrey and not die for it, the Hound is a highlight. Why does Joffrey let him get away with this stuff?Next week, it’s Tyrion’s turn at bat!
