Game of Thrones cast members react to their Emmy nominations! — winteriscoming.net

Yesterday, the 2019 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced, and to no one’s surprise, Game of Thrones walked away with a boatload of nods: 32, to be exact, more than any other show has received in a single year. The nominees include Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), who’s up for his first Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category! Allen is my pick for most underrated actor on the show, so this pleases me. “I wasn’t expecting [the nomination], it’s incredible,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “There are a lot of actors I admire in that category, just to be there is amazing, just came home now with my dog and letting it sink in. It’s just an honor, man, it’s just amazing.” Don’t be modest, Allen; shine bright like the diamond you are. Also nominated in this category is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), who was just as modest however talking to Variety: It’s wonderful, I feel absolutely brilliant. I was on the phone with Gwendoline [Christie] this morning and we were laughing for a few minutes just in disbelief. For all the actors to be recognized in this final season, it’s been wonderful. It’s the icing on the cake, the cherry on top. Whatever fans feel, there’s no reaction that’s wrong. I get it. They wanted something different and they get upset, but you don’t get that many nominations if the writing isn’t spectacular and it’s been spectacular all eight seasons. Christie also spoke to Variety, and just as Coster-Waldau said, she seemed over the moon about being nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her work as Brienne of Tarth. “Oh my good lord, I never ever thought this would happen. I really didn’t,” she said. “I went through every single emotion. I couldn’t be more delighted, this is the best day ever. It’s amazing so many of us have been nominated. I’m delighted for everybody. It’s a show we worked on for nearly 10 years. It’s meant so much to so many of us. I honestly couldn’t feel more overwhelmed, privileged and heartened that people want to see more unconventional female storylines.” I’m so excited for Kit and Emilia and Maisie and Alfie, and Nikolaj congratulated me this morning. It feels like a celebration. It was always going to be a situation where not everyone was going to be pleased with the final season. People have invested so much time and energy in talking about the show. Everyone had an idea about how it was going to end. It was truly and undeniably spectacular and had epic proportions that nobody has seen before. I mean, she sounds excited, but not THAT exci…Christie is nominated alongside her costars Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), meaning that this category is two-thirds Game of Thrones stars. Reacting on her Instagram, Headey looks either thrilled or scared for her life:Turner took a more relaxed approach on her Instagram Stories:Maisie Williams kept things even more succinct, simply letting this GIF of a smiling bearded man express her feelings for her:Finally, Carice Van Houten, who scored a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress for her appearance as Melisandre in “The Long Night,” kept it in character:Congrats to all the nominees! How many nominations will turn into wins?
