Game of Thrones star talks backlash: "I would have been angry as well" — winteriscoming.net

Awards season is here, and despite a divisive final season, Game of Thrones is cleaning up. Tim Porter won at the ACE awards for his work on “The Long Night,” Peter Dinklage finally won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister, and we can’t forget about all those Emmys.Still, according to the cast members, fans haven’t been shy about sharing their disappointment in how everything wrapped up. Stepping out at the SAG Awards with his castmates, actor Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy) talked about that to People TV, remembering his original impression of the ending at the season 8 table read. “When we had the read-through in Belfast, like two and half years ago, we ended up standing and doing a standing ovation for 15, 20 minutes,” he said. “It was a perfect ending but people were upset.”He also jokingly revealed which question he gets asked most now that the show is over. “You know, what I get most now is like, ‘Why did you guys f— up season 8?'”However, Asbæk also found a way to see things from the fans’ point of view by recounting the days before he had a role in the show. “I kind of get it, because I was a big fan of the show before I started it and became a part of it, and if it had ended in that way I would have been angry as well. Because when something you like so much says no… it’s like a breakup.” I like his honesty.Asbæk finished the interview with a brilliant analogy: “It was like a breakup and Game of Thrones broke up with millions of people all over the world and they got upset.”Next up, HBO will try its hand at a Game of Thrones prequel show: House of the Dragon, probably coming out in 2022.
