If you wish to have something very personal, sort of homemade in your day, I recommend a visit to Szabad Bisztró – delicious vegan dishes, local drinks and tasty coffee in a cozy space with funny little hidden details such as the strangely misspelled words in the menu. It’s all put together with the freedom of one’s thoughts creating a welcoming space where everything you can buy is plant-based and really tasty.
Szabad (Free in Hungarian) Bisztro is also associated with local initiatives. One of their current big goals is to be able to use the space in front of the bistro as a terrace instead of it being a parking place, for which they have created a petition. Right now, it is only possible to sit out with a help of a teddy bear driver (that you will meet if you go there) who parked its opened van in front of the place and let people sit on it, which got then named as “Nemterasz” “Notterrace” where you can enjoy your food if you bring it out from Szabad for yourself.
What is more, they support the adoption of dogs, so as you sit on the colourful chairs of Nemterasz you will see some smiley faces of doggies to adopt. Most of the time, the owner is there to serve you and it feels as if you were a guest at a kind neighbor or at a friend’s place.
