Carl Reiner will receive a lifetime achievement honor and his late friend and colleague Sid Caesar will be given a memorial tribute May 1, the opening night of the 9th Annual Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, it was announced Wednesday by executive director Hilary Helstein.
In tribute to Caesar, who passed away Feb. 12 at the age of 91, the festival will screen the 1973 documentary Ten From Your Show of Shows -- a feature compilation of skits from the 1950s TV program whose writers included Caesar (also the star), Reiner (who also performed), Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart and Neil Simon. The pioneering show starred Imogene Coca and Howard Morris.
