Godsmack's Sully Erna Talks '1000hp,' Unveils Track List: Exclusive — billboard.com

Godsmack frontman Sully Erna acknowledges that between 2010's chart-topping "Oracle" and the upcoming "1000hp," due out Aug. 5 through Republic Records, "people were having doubts about whether the band was going to continue" -- doubts that were quickly dispelled once the quartet got together last fall to start working on new material. "It was scary, for sure," Erna tells Billboard. "It's one of those crossroads you hit in your life. the band was going through some obstacles we had to jump through; I just think we were tired, man. We were exhausted from all the years of touring and just needed a break, that's all." Upon reconnecting with each other, Erna recalls, "we really missed each other. The love was still there. The brotherhood is stronger now than it's ever been. I'm really proud to say we've learned so much and we've gotten over those hills and there won't be any more of that because we've learned how to understand we're four different people from four different worlds and you have to give people their space. It just takes awhile, unfortunately, to learn that when you're in a band, you're in a marriage."
