I don’t claim that the second chamber of the legislature in my native country, the House of Lords, is perfect. But I do know quite a lot about it: I’ve worked for a couple of members of that House for example. Indeed, there was a period there where I had a security pass to the place (meaning that officially I was an employee of a member). So I read with interest this Wall Street Journal expose of how “corrupt” (they don’t quite say it but that’s what they mean) the place is. And as I say, I don’t say it’s perfect, not at all. But it’s also not quite as they say it is.
