A recent discovery in Japan: Van Gogh’s drawing of a reaper, 1881, with a painting from 1889 of the same subject
The 125th anniversary of the death of Vincent van Gogh is being marked with a series of special exhibitions this year. It was on 29 July 1890 that the artist died from a gunshot wound in Auvers-sur-Oise, north of Paris. During his 70 days in the village he had completed a painting a day.
