He’s Bacchus, to be exact, and his reign started atop a Mardi Gras float on Sunday (two days before Fat Tuesday). Since Danny Kaye in 1969, the Krewe of Bacchus has been led by a celebrity king … err … god. And aside from Louis Armstrong reigning as King of Zulu in 1949, Bacchus was the first parade to have one, though other krewes such as Endymion, Orpheus and Muses now mirror the practice.
