The legal drink-drive limit in England should be lowered to the same level as Scotland, fire and rescue authorities have said.
Last year, Scotland reduced the limit from the UK-wide 80mgs of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mgs - the equivalent of a pint of beer.
If imposed in England, it could save up to 170 lives a year, the Local Government Association (LGA), which speaks for Fire and Rescue Authorities (FRAs), said.
