Huma Bhabha's We Come in Peace (2017) Courtesy of the artist and Salon 94, New York The Karachi-born artist Huma Bhabha, who is currently making waves in New York with her rooftop installation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will create a new work for the northern UK town of Wakefield next year. Bhabha’s commission is an integral part of the new Yorkshire Sculpture International festival, taking place across four partner venues: the Leeds-based Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, the Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park (22 June-29 September 2019). The UK artist Phyllida Barlow has provided a curatorial thesis for the inaugural sculpture event: “Sculpture is the most anthropological of art forms.”
