Eyewitness: Gaza Strip

Photographs from the Eyewitness series

The now-empty doorway of Rabi Dardouna's doorway on which Banksy painted Niobe holding her head in her hand
The remains of Rabie Dardouna’s house. It was on this now empty metal doorway that Banksy painted Niobe, a mourning Greek goddess, entitled Bomb Damage. The mural was all that remained after the house was destroyed in last year’s Gaza war. Dardouna says he was duped into selling the Banksy for just $175 because he did not realise the true value of the work.
