I was so disappointed after reading Rose Madder that I stopped reading his works for decades. He didn't scare me anymore. That was disappointing. Then, I read 11/22/63. Even though it isn't scary, it's a damn good story.
I also gave up on his scary stuff around Rose Madder, kept up only with the Dark Tower saga. And then was disappointed again. But you're inspiring me to try again, thanks!
