Test results for a group of nine current model midsize SUVs were released on Tuesday, and most of the those evaluated for small overlap front crash protection did not do well. The tests were conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a nonprofit a nonprofit financed by the insurance industry.
Only two models from General Motors General Motors earned the highest rating of Good in the tests: the Chevrolet Equinox and its twin, the GMC Terrain. The Toyota Highlander, which was tested in late 2013, was the only vehicle that was rated Acceptable, the second best designation in the four category rating system.
