One of London’s largest sculptures has just been installed at Heathrow Airport. Slipstream by Richard Wilson adorns the rebuilt Terminal 2 building, due to open in June.
The sculpture is 80 metres long, weighs 77 tonnes and is said to be the largest privately funded sculpture in Europe. The work represents the movements of a stunt plane, captured in time and space and aluminium. We think it looks bloody impressive from the images, which is just as well given that Heathrow paid £2.5 million for it.
