Last week it was announced pop art painter Mark Ryden was working with Katy Perry, Nick Cave, Tyler, the Creator and others on a limited edition record where each artist would do a rendition of the same popular 1890s song, “Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)”. Now, Ryden has shared those with ultra eerie videos accompanying.
The covers record is called "The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell" and in addition to the names mentioned above also includes renditions by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Weird Al Yankovic, Mark Mothersbaugh and Danny Elfman, among others. The song, “Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)”, was written in 1892 and later revisted in the 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, in which it is sung by the HAL 9000 computer.
