Saville’s Stare, 2004-05, and Schiele’s Self-portrait with Physalis, 1912
An unusual pairing of work by one living and one dead artist comes courtesy of the Kunsthaus Zürich, which is due to launch an exhibition featuring the work of Egon Schiele (1890-1918) and Jenny Saville (b. 1970) this autumn.
“Schiele's work confronts the large-format paintings and drawings by the British artist Jenny Saville. This is a meeting of two young stars, separated by many years and divergent artistic methods, who consistently distil in their work a strong sense of the body as a locus of lived experience,” the museum says in a statement.
