Unsurprisingly, they’ve become known for prominently featuring the sounds of acoustic violin and cello on their tracks, and the sonorous strings have proven to be a refreshing reminder that real instrumentals can add a powerful depth to pop music. “We’re not really the standard pop band, but at the same time I think we wanted to break the idea that if you don’t have knowledge of classical music you can’t like it,” Amin-Smith explained. “It was important for us to seem accessible.”
