Director Tate Taylor is headed for outer space.
Taylor (The Help, Get on Up) has come aboard to direct In the Event of a Moon Disaster for FilmNation from the Blacklist script by screenwriter and former journalist Mike Jones.
The story was inspired by a speech of the same name written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential speechwriter William Safire. Written in 1969, the speech — discovered after Safire's death — was to be read by President Richard Nixon in the event that the Apollo 11 mission to the moon was met with tragedy. The movie will present an alternate version of events to the successful completion of Apollo 11 in July 1969.
