Before Joey Ramone died in 2001 of lymphoma, he had been working on a solo record on and off for several years. That record, "Don't Worry About Me," got a posthumous release a year later, containing the undeterrably positive song "I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up)," which dealt with the singer's extended hospitalization for the illness that eventually took his life.
It's mournfully appropriate, then, that School of Seven Bells, whose 35-year-old co-founder Benjamin Curtis passed away in December from another type of lymphoma, would make Joey's pragmatic appeal to positivity his final recording.
