Chris Rock mocks Rick Ross, Donald Sterling and white people in BET Awards monologue — salon.com

Chris Rock was the perfect host for the 2014 BET Awards, an event he referred to as “the Black World Cup” — a night where “you’re going to see something you never see…black artists getting credit for something they created,” he joked. No one was spared in Sunday night’s opening monologue, from Donald Sterling (“Now let me understand: An 83-year-old white man doesn’t like black people. Is that news? C’mon!”), to civil rights movies (“If you make a civil rights movie and white people like it, it’s not a good movie”) to, of course, white people (“The real reason ‘Scandal’s’ a hit, is cause every Thursday at 10 o’clock, there’s a white president.
