As a solo artist, Cowboy Jack Clement didn't record many albums. The man could sing, play guitar and write hit songs, but he preferred to do most of his work behind the soundboard, where he recorded classics for a far-flung group of country crooners and rootsy rockers, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Charley Pride, Townes Van Zandt, Waylon Jennings, U2, Elvis Presley, and dozens of others. It's no surprise that he picked up an impressive group of friends along the way — and even less of a surprise that many of those friends chose to appear on Clement's third (and final) album, For Once and For All.
