"New Dorp, New York" (Feat. Ezra Koenig) — stereogum.com

Jul 22nd '14 by Tom Breihan @ 3:05pmComment Three years ago, the masked, mysterious London dance producer SBTRKT released his self-titled debut album, which showed how sparse, architectural club music could absolutely work as pop if you did it right. The album helped introduce singers like Jessie Ware and Sampha, and when Drake jumped on a remix a few months later, that just sounded right. SBTRKT went away for a little while after that, returning a few months ago with an instrumental EP called Transitions and a new Sampha collab called “Temporary View.” And now he’s announced the release of Wonder When We Land, his next proper album. The first single is called “New Dorp, New York”; it’s a bubbly, inviting banger with a slippery, sidelong vocal from Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, who sounds right at home on this. The song is an absolute monster, and it debuted on BBC radio earlier today. Listen to it below.
