Orenda Fink's new solo album, Blue Dream, out August 19 on Saddle Creek, teeters somewhere between waking and sleep. The Omaha-based musician, who has played in Azure Ray and O+S, intended the songs to exists in a subconscious world. "I wanted the record to sound like a dream," she told ELLE.com. "Overall there is something that is just a little different about the dream world, something that feels slightly unreal but real at the same time, like time is suspended. I wanted to capture that feeling throughout the whole record." She added, "The record is connected, I think, by death and dreams, but also how your waking life is affected when you become entrenched in the imponderables."
