This year marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of seminal English folk crooner Nick Drake. In light of the occasion, the first-ever fully authorized biography on Drake will be released later this year via John Murray Publishers.
Nick Drake: Remembered For A While was compiled by the singer’s sister Gabrielle Drake and the Nick Drake Estate. The book covers the entire arc of Drake’s life, featuring never-before-seen photos, handwritten lyrics, and rare personal documents to augment the narrative. Also included are interviews and excerpts from Drake’s family and friends and longtime collaborators, including producer Joe Boyd, songwriter Paul Wheeler, and poet Will Stone. Music writer Pete Paphides also contributed an essay, dissecting Drake’s unique recording process.
