Lao Lao Garden offers traditional Lao barbecue in a laid-back setting. The restaurant is a well-known drinking spot among backpackers thanks to its extensive beverage menu (which includes lao lao, a local whiskey), however, it’s also a great spot for a casual meal. Lao barbecue is a do-it-yourself meal in which diners are provided with raw meat and vegetables to cook over a domed hotplate at the centre of their table. Meats are grilled on top of the dome, while the lower ring is filled with hot water for cooking vegetables and noodles. Lao Lao Garden is set on a hillside, with the main seating area found outdoors in a multi-tiered, candlelit garden.
