Rick Springfield Nixes Australia Tour To Make Movie — billboard.com

Rick Springfield’s long-awaited homecoming tour of Australia has been canceled because of his acting commitments.  Springfield, the artist behind such hits as "Jessie's Girl," "Don't Talk to Strangers" and "Affair of the Heart," was originally due to play a string of dates Down Under this October, his first here in 30 years. Since those shows were announced, he has been cast in Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions film "Ricki And The Flash" alongside Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline and directed by Jonathan Demme. The film is in pre-production and will begin shooting in October -- clearly conflicting with his tour.
