For their first album since 2009's ambient Zephyr, Basement Jaxx changed studios, moving from the run-down building where they had been recording to a newer, more open facility. Inspired by this transition, as well as the contemporary sounds of artists like Disclosure and Rudimental, the duo attempted to make – in the words of member Felix Buxton – "something reenergized, something lighter, brighter, more hopeful."
