Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds — stereogum.com

Sep 4th '14 by Tom Breihan @ 4:22pmComment The new movie 20,000 Days On Earth is a sort of half-fictional portrait of the Australian scorched-earth postpunk icon Nick Cave, which honestly seems like the only realistic way to approach the life of a person who barely seems real. The movie comes out later this month, and to celebrate its impending release, Cave and his Bad Seeds have shared “Give Us A Kiss,” an eerie and ephemeral song that hasn’t been released before. (They’ve already played it live.) The track is an amorphous slow build that pulls a ton of atmosphere from Warren Ellis’ violin screeches, and its tension offers no release. The band recorded the song during the same sessions that produced the great 2013 album Push The Sky Away, and they’ve shared a live-in-Sydney version of that album’s “Jubilee Street” alongside it. Listen to both songs below.
