"Fiction is a big, shimmering bubble. It's beautiful but it pops so easily." That's how David Mitchell, author of The Bone Clocks, this month's MashableReads official selection, described the process of writing to Mashable. But if there is anybody who has mastered the craft of fiction writing, it's Mitchell. In his postmodern masterpiece Cloud Atlas, Mitchell seamlessly transitions between myriad styles ranging from travelogue, epistolary novel, mystery thriller and dystopian adventure tale. And recently, in preparation for the release of his new book The Bone Clocks, Mitchell wrote The Right Sort, a short story told entirely on Twitter. Mitchell said he was inspired by the challenge of constraining his story to 140-character increments.
