The newest winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, French novelist Patrick Modiano, is among the Yale University Press' soon-to-be-published authors.
Modiano’s “Suspended Sentences: Three Novellas”will be published in November as part of the Yale Press series The Margellos World Republic of Letters, dedicated to making literature from around the globe available in English through translation. The novellas — “Afterimage,” “Suspended Sentences,” and “Flowers of Ruin” — were originally published separately. This new collection of Modiano’s tales of orphaned children, mysterious parents, forgotten friends, and enigmatic strangers, all set in Paris, was translated by Mark Polizzotti.
