Late last week UEFA’s General Secretary Gianni Infantino uttered the following, “We’re now focused on losses and to repay the debt is part of the loss that the club can make at the end of the season. But, certainly, the question of debt is something that can be put on the table.”
It did not take long for the media to pick up on the comment and before the day was out we had a myriad of articles that took 1 and 1 and made it 99. The thought process went something like this – “debt” = “Manchester United” = “UEFA targeting Manchester United”.
