The Knick wasn’t instant much-watch TV. It wasn’t, for example, all anyone was talking about after just two episodes like Game of Thrones. It was slow, moody, and—despite being set in a hospital at the turn of the last century—just another medical drama with a brooding antihero. It was like a sepia-toned Grey’s Anatomy, minus the overly ambitious horny surgical interns, and it was easy to lose sight of Cinemax’s excellent new program as the new fall TV season rolled in.
