Big Hero 6, in theaters November 7, is Disney Animation’s seventh feature since Pixar execs John Lasseter and Ed Catmull took over at the iconic Burbank studio. The film is set in San Franksokyo, a mind-blowingly elaborate mashup of Japanese megacity and exaggerated-scale SF, and it tells the story of a precocious roboticist Hiro Tadashi and the nurse robot, Baymax, who wants nothing more than to take care of him. It’s an action-packed, tech-obsessed, Manga-inspired, superhero-buddy film that will steal your heart. It’s also further evidence that after a dark decade at the Mouse House, Lasseter and Camull have helped make Disney great again. In our November issue we delve into how Lasseter and Catmull managed to turn things around at Disney. So for our cover, photographer Art Streiber, who has shot Star Wars aliens, Muppets, and Steven Spielberg for previous WIRED covers, aimed his lens at Lasseter and Catmull. Then our design team partnered with Disney animators to surround Lasseter and Catmull with some of the characters that have appeared in Disney Animation films since they took over. Click on each of the characters, from Big Hero 6 stars Hiro and Baymax, to Princess Tiana, Olaf, and Wreck-it-Ralph, to watch them in action.
