Briefly: After dying in nearly everything that's he's starred in, it sounds like Sean Bean is poised to survive a feature film. THR has word that the Lord of the Rings and National Treasure star has landed a role in The Martian, the next sci-fi drama from Alien director Ridley Scott. The film follows an astronaut (Damon) who is stranded in a Martian colony and struggles to survive, hoping he can last long enough for NASA to organize a rescue mission. Bean will play a NASA flight director, presumably back on Earth, trying to sort things out. Bean joins an interesting assembly of talent that includes Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig and Donald Glover. The film arrives on November 25th, 2015.
