At 98 feet tall, the Kinder Downfall is the tallest waterfall in the Peak District of England. When high winds hit the area, onlookers will notice a somewhat rare phenomenon: Updrafts force the water to blow back upstream.
As the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo reached northwestern England on Tuesday, winds reaching speeds of up to 50 miles per hour hit the waterfall. Even stronger winds were felt in other parts of the UK, including gusts of about 70 miles per hour, just shy of hurricane force.
