The ball came floated in from the left by Arnold Muhren but despite the seemingly impossible angle Van Basten simply crashed the ball in on the volley. Considering the stage—the Dutch went on to win the match 2-0 and claim their only major international title—it must rank as one of the greatest goals ever scored.
