A Norwegian group behind a campaign to “Save the National Gallery” may not have succeeded in halting plans to move the museum to Oslo’s waterfront, but they are back fighting to keep the current building as a second venue. “It is a national icon and has to be dedicated to art just as it was meant from the beginning,” says Kristian Vårvik from Kvarts architects, a member of the group. “It is also necessary to keep that part of town lively and to have enough space for the collection,” he adds.
