Three tracks into Bryan Ferry's new album, the former Roxy Music frontman gets reflective, singing lines like, "I was walking down the street, and I saw you in the rain/It's breaking my heart, and I want you back again" as he builds toward a chorus that ends, "I had the world on a string and I threw it all away."
The album, titled Avonmore, is Ferry's first collection of new material since 2010's Olympia, and the song, "Soldier of Fortune," available below, features Johnny Marr helping out with Red Hot Chili Peppers-esque acoustic guitar riff. Aside from Marr, Avonmore includes guests like Nile Rodgers, Ronnie Spector, Mark Knopfler and Norwegian dance producer Todd Terje, whose plodding "Johnny and Mary" collaboration (previously released on his own It's Album Time! LP) closes the record.
