AT&T agrees to purchase Mexican carrier Iusacell for $2.5 Billion — androidauthority.com

AT&T is buying Mexican wireless company Iusacell for $1.8 billion, or $2.5 billion with debt included. It adds to the growing talk of AT&T wanting to expand their service into Mexico. Iusacell covers 70% of the Mexican population and currently has 8.6 million subscribers which is considerably聽less than聽AT&T’s 116.6 million subscribers. “Mexico is still in the early stages of mobile Internet capabilities and adoption, but customer demand for it is growing rapidly. Iusacell gives us a unique opportunity to create the first-ever North American Mobile Service area covering over 400 million consumers and businesses in Mexico and the United States.” -聽AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson
