Uncharted Movie Hires THE HURT LOCKER Writer Mark Boal to Work on Script — collider.com

When we last checked in on Sony’s long-gestating adaptation of the popular video game Uncharted, they had set a release date for June 10, 2016 with Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) with an eye to start filming in early 2015.  However, it looks like the script still isn’t ready yet as THR reports that Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) is coming in to work on the screenplay.  He’s the latest in a long line of screenwriters that includes Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer (the writer of Sahara, not the director The Act of Killing), David Guggenheim, and Cormac & Marianne Wibberley.  Boal, a former journalist who also wrote Zero Dark Thirty, is an unexpected choice to work on a screenplay for a blockbuster that’s in the vein of Indiana Jones, but THR says he’s a fan of the video game.
