Vice has hired former Obama official Alyssa Mastromonaco for its chief operating officer role, adding a veteran with high-profile experience as the media company executes CEO Shane Smith's plan for global domination.
The hiring, first reported by The New York Times, comes after Vice recently laid out plans to expand internationally and expand its video operations.
The company recently signed a deal for carriage on a major Canadian cable distributor, and had been in talks with various U.S. companies for its own TV channel. Vice has been able to hatch Smith's plans with the help of numerous major funding rounds including a recent $500-million round.
